Abuja, Nigeria: 01 July, 2026 – ImpactHouse Centre for Development Communication has selected AjibareTalks as the first voice to receive support under Zenzile, its virtual newsroom for accountability and public-interest communication. Additional partners will be announced on a rolling basis.
The selection marks the expansion of Zenzile’s support to citizens, digital creators, and folk creatives whose work increasingly shapes public conversations on governance, development, and the use of public resources. Through the initiative, ImpactHouse provides evidence, analysis, and communication support that strengthens public-interest reporting and accountability advocacy.
AjibareTalks is led by Oluwasegun Gbemileke Ajibare, a Nigerian content creator whose podcasts and social media posts examine governance and the quality of public projects in local communities, including roads, boreholes, and other public infrastructure.
His work attracted wider national attention in 2026 after he publicly questioned the cost, quality, and transparency of a bridge rehabilitation project in Kwara State, north-central Nigeria. While the relevant authorities have disputed aspects of his commentary, ImpactHouse’s interest is not in taking a position on the dispute. Our position is that citizens have a legitimate right to question how public resources are used, and that such questions are most effective when they are grounded in verified evidence.
ImpactHouse also notes reports that Mr Ajibare was remanded in prison in connection with his public commentary. We reaffirm that questioning the use of public resources is a legitimate exercise of civic participation and should be protected within a democratic society.
‘AjibareTalks represents the kind of civic leadership Zenzile exists to strengthen. Citizens increasingly shape how communities understand governance and public policy, and they deserve access to the same quality of evidence and communication support that helps make accountability work credible, fair, and effective. We look forward to supporting many more voices across Nigeria’, Executive Director of ImpactHouse, John Andah, said.
As more voices join Zenzile, ImpactHouse aims to build a growing community of trusted civic communicators helping Nigerians ask better questions, engage institutions with evidence, and strengthen public accountability.
